Thank you for saying what you said
we are only 70% of the population. the rest 30% still counts. it is not only ours, it belong to all of us.
Why are we even identified as Sinhalese, Tamils, or Muslims?
We are Sri Lankans above all.Even above that we are human beings
but the truth is people who thinks like you and me are very rare among both Sinhala people and Tamil people

@Dr196903 who is shame to be sinhala?

To all my Friends.........
this kind of patriotic songs r there in every country.. Tamils can also make such songs... they r just songs... (may be kids).
no one shd take it seriously, we dont take anything when we die.. and no one knows his destination.........
Thanks so much!

beautiful song...if the "sinhala" bit from this song was changed and made to be inclusive of all cultures within sri lanka, this would be worthy of our national anthem
-
Hey DR,
Why dont you come and live in Sri Lanka and show off your patriotism?
Sad that most of our patriots are abroad.
-
Great! Mai Sinhala apage ratai!!!

Aruna,
Many thanks for all your kind comments on this clip and the others. I'm glad you share my thoughts and tastes too.
If my memory serves me well, the music must be by Pundit Amaradeva but I cannot ensure 100%. Its a movie song too 'getawarayo' then again I am not 100% sure.

You are great, for posting the original recording, pls keep up the good work for our COUNTRY, CULTURE and the SINHALA CINEMA which our by gone and the Present Musicians lyricists Actors and Actresses built with great difficulties with very limited resources and hard work for all of us fellow SRI LANKANS who are scattered around the world "TO BE PROUD OF" and enjoy.

Palitha
the truth is no national TV or Radio channel is broadcasting this song anymore because of the "Sinhala" line. and once nanda malini promised her tamil audience that she will not sing it again forever. thats why even today we dont here this song at all. i have mixed feeling about this. i love this song and it makes me very imotional. but i can also understand why it might heart the feelings of my tamil friends. i dont want them to feel like outsiders.

The truth is in the olden days Sinhalese felt strongly of their country unlike nowadays who are scared & ashamed to feel Sinhalese. This song was written by Mahagame Sekara and he was not scared to talk about his identity, people like Chandrartne Manawasinghe the same, they wrote for not only Sinhalese but Tamils and Muslims who sang in Sinhalese for the Sinhalese and that was the reality. Unfortunately LTTE has made Sinhalese feel shameful to be Sinhalese. Sinhalese have an identity cricisis.

Great to hear your patrioticism. Our country is a unique one and protection of that country is very important.
