  • lol i found a valve trombone in my schools band room 2day...i play trumpet but i figured out how to play the valvetrombone....

  • @9musicman7 cool what make is it?

  • Gah! Help me convince my band director valve trombones are a real instrument that aren't just around for brass players who don't want to learn slide positions! They have their own sound, and were more popular than slide trombones for awhile and still are in some countries!

  • Yes, alot of people consider them like that just because they are not main stream. What model of instrument do have?

  • @peterDiglin None right now. I'll be playing a school instrument when Jazz band starts, but I am looking at getting my own.

I normally play baritone/euphonium but neither instrument really does Jazz, and I started out on slide trombone in 5th grade, but I like valve trombones so that's what I'll play for Jazz band.

cool, there is'nt too much choice out there though, in an ideal world I would buy a top of the line getzen valve trom because the cheaper ones have a few issues will intonation

  • Ohh how I miss my trombone.

  • @TenorClef1971

thanks yes it's a Bb instrument, That was recorded a while ago when I first got the horn (I think/hope that i have got better since then) I heard an album with Stan getz and Bob Brookmeyer (valve tromb) and got inspired a few years ago, he is certainly something to aspire to

  • Nice playing/tone there. A lot of trumpet guys seem to double on the valve trombone as the transition is easier than having to learn slide positions. I'd assume your playing a Bb valve trombone......as opposed to the C valve trombone which makes the transition slightly easier for Bb readers to Bass Clef.

  • Great video!... I"d like to learn to play a valve trombone . Can you suggest a good inexpensive trombone? any help would certainly be appreciated. thanks. My email is: salpedi@verizon.net
