We are once again awed by the obssesive resourcefulness of Jonas Brothers fans, who knew, as if by telepathy, that the band would stop at Rita's Water Ice in Little Falls on Saturday before their sold-out concert at the Meadowlands.

Reps from the band called owner Pete Tsiamtsiouris to let him know in advance about the visit. They warned him not to tell anyone (other than his 12-year-old daughter, of course). But when the teen idols showed up, they were mobbed within minutes.

"I don't know how they knew, but there were 300 girls here,'' marvelled Tsiamtsiouris. "A stretch Hummer pulled up right behind them and about 30 girls piled out. They ran right out into the street, stopped traffic. They must have been following the bus.''

The Jonas Brothers and their security guards were trailed by a crew from the Disney Channel, which is filming a reality show about them, and "Oprah,'' which is also planning an upcoming segment.
The boys, who grew up in Wyckoff, ordered wild black cherry gelato and patiently signed autographs for about a half hour, says Tsiamtsiouris, who had no idea who they were until last weekend.

He knows now. "Toward the end, I thought the Beatles were coming back the way girls were yelling and screaming,'' he says.
