Chemical vapour deposition, (CVD) is a fantastic method for producing thin films on variable substrates both economically and efficiently. In this video Charlie Dunnill shows how we use simple CVD technology to prepare surfaces with functional properties that can help to tackle some of the biggest issues of 21st century science. For example, the spread of bacteria in hospitals is already a major concern for the UK, with antibiotic resistant strains such as MRSA costing the taxpayer billions of pounds - self-cleaning antimicrobial materials created using CVD may soon become the front line in the fight against healthcare associated infections.

  • If you want to know more about CVD and its many exciting applications, check out the website of Archer Technicoat Ltd

  • It excellent idea .... and it already used in many products based on nanomaterials. But your idea to modify Titania to absorb the light in visible region is good but needs more description plz. Thanks alot.

  • That was awesome! There are so many possibilities that go along with this technology. I'm in awe. :)

  • Very cool stuff. Hope to hear more stuff about this in the future.

  • Wow... We have self-cleaning windows?

    lol jk
