Mel Chin spoke about his art at the opening of the "Close Encounters" show at American University, September 13, 2008. The title of the piece that he made for the show is: 'A magnified CALLOUT representing the stratigraphic sum of all human existence emerging from a bowed one hundred trillion year span from the beginning to the end of time. Illustrating BIG BANG to HEAT/COLD DEATH along with a TRUE VACUUM METASTABILITY DISASTER eradicating the gradient to sustain information. Note: Unspecified creative activity evidence as voids in a sedimentary matrix of redundant and hostile reality.'
Graphite and pigment on parchment.
