Hard to find an adjective of praise that hasn't been exhausted on Ms. Horn's behalf--and deservedly so. She's in a class all by herself.

shes so badass. her piano is as perfect as her singing and the arrangements are simply the coolest. check her version of my man's gone now on the same record.

@artist40hou Lol, now every time I hear this song, I don't think about Hawaii or Fiji or what normally fits the term paradise aesthetically but snow glistening on the trees. Thanks for the memories, Miss Horn, R.I.P.
One of my greatest regrets was not being able to see her live in concert.

My paradise "A Ha" moment: Winter 1992, January rare southern snow storm hit and we had about 3 or 4 inches, early that morning, the sun comes out glistening and reflecting against the fresh wet snow and this was playing on the radio when I was on my way to check on my then fiance, we were really in love and that song that moment just made it more intense.

I miss you Shirley Horn...I had the pleasure of photographing her along with other legendary musicians....

I am sure heaven sent her here to bring the beauty of her music to engulf the world. Her piano playing alone is a work of art. And that voice! She transports you to whatever world she wants to share with you. She wraps that miraculous voice around every word. Just close your eyes and you are gone. And some say there is no God? Shirley is proof. Rapturous.

so nice

I promise no other musician/singer has ever included me in their experience as shirley horn did! I cried so much listening you her voice and her skills as a pianist. I felt everything chord, every note, every high and every low. As a fellow musician she has inspired me to dig deeper.

Totally amazing. Back in 1988 or 89 I had my first date with my future wife - we went to Georgetown in DC after having coffee at a joint in Leesburg, VA. We happened upon a place called One Step Down and Shirley Horn was playing that night (Neither of us knew who she was) so we went in. The place was packed and we shared a booth with another couple and they were beside themselves - eyes closed, grooving. I'll never forget that night and I'll always love Shirley Horn.
