A scene from a Soviet/Russian musical comedy "We are Jazzmen" ("We are from Jazz", 1982) set in 1920s. Performed by the Sovremennik jazz band, vocals by Larisa Dolina. Lyrics sound gibberish as if learned phonetically, but otherwise the performance is great. The four guys that stare at the singer with dismay are a struggling jazz band that tried to hire her, but she ended up with their rival band.
@MarcBrewer it's funny that the West think that Communists wanted to destroy them, and here in Russia many think the same about the West, that it's destroying them. But it's a sheer exaggeration. And why not to just play attention to music instead of ranting about politics?

Jeez - it looks like the craze for overdone melisma in singing started behind the iron curtain. Maybe American Idol is part of a vast communist conspiracy to destroy the Western World.
