Robert Crays name has become synonymous with soulful modern blues with clean, impeccably phrased guitar work. Born in 1953 in Georgia into a military family that moved often, he grew up listening to blues, jazz, gospel, soul and pop and he began playing guitar in his early teens. Near the end of high school in Tacoma, Wash., Cray was considering an architecture career and formed a cover band in which he sang and played guitar.

  • wow...thanks. Doesn't seem like he's being promoted anymore. I wonder what he's been up to from time to time. I actually bought that last song, while I watched this vid.

  • No overdriven Marshall amp, no whammy bar or neck tapping: just honest playing with great touch and tone. Mr. Cray is a cool cat who has his own sound.

  • That look like his old band from way back, I think that is Dave olsen on drums. Cool

  • @HallPassExpired Haha not Bootsy, Albert. . . But Bootsy is the man too. Haha

  • cry baby

  • Yes, so much older in appearance since the early '90s, but that must mean he puts his heart & all into his music, & the Blues, and he is even better in the 2010s than the '80s!! Such soulful and amazing compositions. From: fan from 1988-2011 in Australia.

  • @Twistchawa Someone say Bootsy Collins???????

  • We'll all be blessed when technology catches up with Robert Cray. Recordings cannot begin to compare with His live performances. Just when you think you've heard His best, He'll throw something out there to re-blow your mind. Absolutely AWESOME! Every time.

  • @johngolby No he doesn't age one bit ,he only gets better with time! I could watch & listen all night to "Young Bob" especially if he was "Right Next Door" LOL Love this man and his cool style,he's not full of himself, just very casual, like he doesn't know how great he really is! It's amazing to hear him live he sounds just like his records, maybe better. ♥

  • Best concert I ever saw was Sept. 2008 at Horse Shoe Casino,Indiana. This man does not get old, he only get's better with age like a fine wine! He becomes one with his guitar when he picks it up,it's magical to see him live. That's my "Young Bob" ,the great persuader "Right Next Door!" Love him to pieces ♥ Thanks for this great post fendermusical, msstevie ♥
