a total of 3 people [i.e. a guy in green jersey, a guy in yellow shirt, and a lady in black shirt] assaulted a 17-yr old PATAS [Philippine Atheists and Agnostics Society] member at about 7:00pm-7:20pm last night, june 4, 2011, in luneta.

it is interesting to note how human nature still has the upper hand over virtually anything that tries to shackle it -- that is to say, mankind behaves in manners no different from beasts' when irate, threatened or otherwise. people inflict physical/emotional pain or kill to live, and that's but the natural course of events in 'nature', which makes one wonder how long in evolutionary terms it takes for that primate've -- or neanderthal[?] -- volatility and emotionality to be culled or diminished in human affairs.
after all, evolution left to its devices is such a painstakingly-slow process, and since, as human beings, we are affected by our environment and we affect it in return, we can definitely hasten and speed up its progress in this nation in particular. if anything, what our society has done, so far, is to resist a long-overdue change in terms of better options and solutions to our educational/political/economic/intellectual/emotional/spiritual/etc malaise: there has only been an overwhelming increase in this resistance in mushroom proportions, if you catch my drift.
it has not only been 2,011 years of seeming 'failure', folks, for the calendar year 0000 definitely cannot be our a priori or rigid origin. countless leaders in thought and practice have roamed the earth already, and yet look at where our nation is [at]? if we should feel any moral obligation at all, we should give this some really serious thought: what have our old ways and belief/educational system done to our lives? what kind of mind do we want to lead this country? what quality of life and education do we deserve? what legacy do we gift our children with?
our society is, to a great degree, some sort of hogwash resulting from centuries -- even millenniums -- of collective brainwashing by entities who failed to do their supposed, assigned -- or, divinely-appointed[?] -- task of giving humanity a good direction and guidance in their lives. as history tells us quite explicitly, any form of revolution costs precious lives, but why take the violent route? who condones violence and bloodshed, anyway? what kind of [ir]rationality would advise that? and, how much more of the broken 'record' and trail do we need to subject ourselves to and leave behind before we learn 'at long last'?
admittedly, both our government and non-government sectors have failed immensely in so many [dis]respects. if we want to evolve fast -- or, live better at the very least -- we should discard the 'old and ineffective' in favor of the 'new and efficient' as soon as possible.
to put it bluntly, how many ants does it take to change a dysfunctional light bulb?
oh, wHell... susmaryosep + time, indeed!

That atheist guy wasn't beaten up because of the atheist vs theist debate, but because he made an elitist remark against the poor people there as if he forgot that he's destitute himself. After landing what he believes to be a high-paying job, he suddenly grew a condescending, narcissistic and elitist attitude.
I talked with him several times, and it's always unpleasant. He's very rude and crude, typical of atheists who are unhindered by any moral code. He provoked--so they reacted...
