*Thanks to everyone for all your comments. Since we first posted this video in 2007, the 1959 Les Paul Sunburst has increased in value from $400,000.00 to $750,000.00.

The 1959 Burst:
This stunning film follows the path and the growth of interest in the most valued musical instrument on the planet Earth: 1959 Les Paul Sunburst. This awesome film features interviews with Slash, Billy Gibbons, Rick Neilsen and many others. It reveals a culture of collectors who covet the chance to own one of these rare and beautiful guitars. And why not? One recently sold at Sotheby's for a whopping $400,000.00!

  • @danspivey91 this happened maybe 8 years ago and it can still bring me to tears today thinking about it....if i had been maybe 10 minutes earlier my life would be different right now! I would not have sold it though!

  • @rockandroll4life2001 why didnt you start looking for a strat from the same year

  • No Gary Moore?

    Am I correct?

  • @lumpfish99 I wish! no I just needed to get a price to understand the full pain of the story. I can honestly say I would have cried for days if that had happened to me.

  • @danspivey91 somewhere between 240,000 and 440,000 depending on condition....but you could sell it and buy a house no problem....why you one?!!

  • I have a beat-to-crap '73 Lester Polsfus Custom Black Beauty, Fretless Wonder. It's truly an amazing guitar-better than any vintage burst or gold top I've ever played.

  • I would sell it.

And then i buy a very good piece of old wood and get my own personal highend guitar.

With the best parts i can find out there. Handmade from a guitar master. With highest quality.

And i will follow every single step. And it would look the way i want it.

No Gibson brand on it. And much better. Because i dont pay a good part just for the name.

Every single $ goes into quality. And its not made just to make money....

To bad my 08 Gibson SG Special Faded is not worth 750k :/

  • Whammy bars no matter BEND the STRINGS

  • @lumpfish99 that is a truly painfull guitar story, but out of interest, how much was it worth?

  • really...and no whammy bar? people deserve to die
