Back again in MacWorld Expo 2008, check out Smith Micro's Anime Studio Pro animation application. You can create some really cool 2D animations very easily including importing a photograph, adding bones to it and then animating it using key frames.

  • It's actually very easy. Try with the tutorials, once understand the basics, the rest will be like a game. Trust me.

  • Drawing tools are pretty different than Illustrator paradigm, but that doesn't make them less intuitive. Think on them more as sculpting than as drawing. When you start to feel comfortable, you can't go back to the classic vector softwares.

A tip which maybe can be useful: first use the add point tool with sharp checkbox activated to generate all the sharp points of a form. Then, uncheck sharp and add the points between to define the curvature of the shape. That works easier for me.

  • Umm I downloaded a trial version and I found it's drawing tools to be more frustrating than intuitive!
