I am all for poetic license but this is kind of disrespectful to an actress who managed to break racial lines. She was one of the first latina actress to do feature films, not that she gets many kudos for that.

Sorry to say so but all this is nonsense. Lupe Velez was not a silent star who was not able to find work after the talkies came in. Lupe made only 5 silents... and 39 talkies !! so this is ridiculous. And she never suicided because of her career but because of a wrong love affair. She was pregnant and refused to have an abortion and could not stand to have a baby alone and cope with gossips at that time.

i'm guessing the only resource available was Kenneth Anger's Hollywood Babylon, which is the bitter rantings of an ex-child actor, bitter because he had no talent and couldn't get anymore work.

Oh man it was going so nicely until that vomit scene AUGH!!!

this is disrespectfull to the memory of a agreat star .. your so called actress shows no emotion and what about that lanky hair aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

@tousamis You're right tousamis. She was a beautiful and talented lady, but her life came to a tragic end because of a failed love affair. Becoming pregnant out of wedlock in the mid 1940s would have been hard to cope with, especially for a celebrity. I guess she just didn't want to face that alone. To bad she chose suicide. The world lost a wonderful, beautiful person, and a great actress. Hey everyone! Read the real story of her life..

I remember some quite successful talking movies starring Ms. Velez. She was awesome, and as a kid at the time, I adored her.

Factually incorrect, yet Film well constructed and many beautiful Shots. The ending with the Vomit could be omitted, for frankly it tarnishes your Effourts. Lupe Valéz was quite aktiv in the Talkies, and she was beutiful with singing as well as dancing.

This is a sad and moving tale, beautifully shot although not quite factual. Lupe Velez was still successful at the time of her death. She killed herself because she was depressed, because her lover had abandoned her and she was pregnant. The actress who plays Lupe Velez is good.

Your very wrong about the talkies bringing
about the end of her career, Quiet the contrary, she excelled after the silent movie era.
I'm not saying this is what happened, I'm not saying it's a documentary. She also wasn't 19 years old, anglo-saxon and in yorkshire! it's just a bit of entertainment, jesus, where's you people's sense of fun?
