Nice car. I had a black '81. I installed my own airbags but I put them in backwards by mistake and I hit a cow and my head got sucked right into the steering column. Then my Dad beat the shit out of me.

It hasn't had one since I have owned it but I think originally they came with buzzers though.

Great car i had an 80 CMX and also an 81 Cordoba LS. my dad worked at plant 3 in windsor he did pre service on these cars in the factory i restored my mirada in 91 and regretfully sold it in 96 it was a 360 4 barrel loaded car

CMX's have the simulated convertible top and instrument accents. IMHO, they were the best looking Miradas (I own two: an '83 CMX for me, completely modified using an '07 Charger SRT8, and an '83 CMX for my son, swapping the slant 6 for a Mopar crate 360, ~405 hp). When they're set up nicely, they really become GREAT cars!

There are a bunch of options that could tell its a CMX. Overall though, it doesent matter. Its just something that makes it seem special; and if you have a Mirada at all, thats good enough. You can look online at the options and see if yours has any of them.

Glad you got a good one. I bought an '80, loaded, and it was the worst car I ever owned. I still drive Dodges but that Mirada of mine was terrible. Silver paint faded and flaked off; rear bumper chrome peeled off; plastic coated 'chrome' trim yellowed; trunk leaked; dashboard warped;plastic door and side window trim cracked up like Turkish Taffy; ext. door handles broke (pass side 1x, driver 2x), rearend clunked; the 318 was just a total dog. I traded in a beautiful Trail Duster for it, waah!

How can you tell its a cmx? I'm asking because my mirada looks just like yours but its got the T top, but one of the last owners removed the mirada decals. does it say anywhere if its a cmx? or did the cmx come with anything special that the regular mirada didn't have?

hey dude i got an 1982 dodge mirada and the parts that you are calling crome are really brushed aluminum same for the original hub caps that they came with in 82!

They came with a "binger", check the fuse box as it may have been removed or came lose. As far as the oil light, it WILL come on when you turn the key on but not start it. If it comes on and stays on after you start it then you got a problem. Low oil pressure(i think its 10psi or less) will make it come on. Enjoy it, and take care of it. I had an 80 and wish I still did.
