that was because it was filmed from the right side of the tail instead of being right underneath it

the monsters tail is flat... looks nothing like it, the movie bridge scene is also a tenticle, has got to me mommy, no tenticle on cloverield tail look 100000 times different

It's not in the original clip, I just checked, It didn't even have a tentacle anway.
