To the tune of 'Lord of the Dance' in the style of dances from Oddington in Oxfordshire. Danced by Thames Valley Morris Men on Boxing Day 2006. Many thanks to Terry Knott for the video.
In the south east of the state of England, people assume the rest of the british isles are full of yokels and morons. this is why you never, EVER, hear morris music on the bbc stations except, perhaps, on a l ocal level. is that not sad? what is psychologically wrong with these south easterners? we are not wurzels, you know. we appreciate quality music and I, a southern irishman, am all in favour of reviving it. I LOVE IT.
Did you know that Morris Dance Music is also called MOORISH dance music? Apparently, the celtic ceili music and the BEAUTIFUL morris english dance music come from ... wait for it ... North Africa!! Either Algeria or Morrocco. Now, whydon't english people appreciate this lovely music? Have you noticed t he dancers who win awards for it come from ... wait again for it! ... the Celtic states of the b ritish isles!!! Five such states and they APPRECIATE morris dance music. Come on, England!!
I love to call it English Ceili music! It's lovely and I am surprised not more English support it. When I lived in Watford, Herts., people would consider you backward if you liked this music.
