I sang this famous French love song at a live performance recently. Hope you enjoy it!!

The translation is:

The green hummingbird, the king of the hills, Seeing the dew and the sun's clear light shining on his nest woven of fine grasses, he heads into the air like a ray of light. He flies to a nearby spring where the bamboo makes the sound of the sea. Where the red hibiscus flower with it's heavenly scent opens and reveals the glistening moisture at its heart. He descends, he alights, and he drinks so much love from the cup of the rose that he dies, not knowing if he could have drained it. On your pure lips oh my beloved, my soul likewise would have sooner died from the first kiss that perfumed it.

  • Thank you so much Steve!! This is one of my favorite songs, I'm glad you enjoy it too.

  • Elizabeth, I like all of your pieces. but this one in particular, La Colbri, is one of your strongest ones,I think. Keep singing. The French diction is good, (not that I'm a French expert) and it's obvious you love this song. It shows in your singing and performance. I'll write to you tomorrow or the next day. Take care. Steve

  • This is difficult for me to hear...
