3000 TMVP supporters led by Muralitharan join the SLFP 10 03 2009

3000 TMVP members led by Parliamentarian Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan join the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

They secured membership from President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees. Mr. Muralitharan also took oaths as Minister for National Integration and Reconciliation.
Addressing the gathering, the President said SLFP was a party very close to the Tamil civilians. Speaking in Tamil, he was optimistic of the Northern Spring taking place in the near future as the Eastern Resurgence. Most of development had taken place in the East. All public officials from the Eastern Chief Minister had lived in the East. When development was taking place in an independent and unitary country, even armed persons disarm.
In his address, Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan said small parties can do nothing. They are akin to sports clubs. They repent when they think of the past. He said it was the President who directed them towards the correct path even after a delay and are indebted to him.

Ministers D.M. Jayaratna, Maithripala Sirisena, Susil Premajayanth, A.H.M. Fowzie, Kumara Welgama and Dulles Alahapperuma, Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa and North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake were among those present.
