As liberal as I am, I can't really get on the 'hating the rich' bandwagon. If somebody makes loads and loads of money, and wants to redecorate to the tune of over $1M, then fine. It is their right. He should have paid for it himself though and not used company funds.
But just because he has expensive taste does not give people the right to vilify him. Who cares how much he has stashed away? Who cares where he goes on holiday? Dude can do whatever he likes with his money.
