I hacked the game files and found the animation in there, so I added the music to it and remade the video. No sound effects, sadly.

Mental Math Games is an old game suite by the Waterford Institute that I recently rediscovered. This clip is my favorite part of the suite; it is the reward for passing all of the speed math tests. This video is the manually resynced version, with no sound effects.

  • Thank you for posting this game video. I have 3 children" now in their 20s and they wouuld play mental math games for several hours at a time, not only to build their math skills, but mainly to see the raccon progress a few more steps in the sequence. I still have the 3.5" disks, but don't have a computer to play it on. I now tutor Math and wish I could find it on a CD in a version which will play on my Toshiba Dual Core Laptop.

  • @kevinwwjd2 Look for Mental Math Games by Kidsoft on Amazon, they do have it on CD.

  • What system was this on?

  • @WeeabooTelevision I had to use DOSBox to run it. It's from pre-1990.

  • @oldbushie I see. It appeared to be on another computer rather than on DOS.

  • Try Amazon, I know they have a scant few copies somewhere.

  • I wish there was some way to get it... you'd think it would be on some abandonware site at this point but I can't find it. I have dosbox running and would love to try it again!

  • You are very welcome. :D That's the reason I sought this game out in the first place, plus the fact that it was really the first computer game I ever played that was really memorable.
