My Trans Am vs an '11 Mustang 5.0. Stock as far as I could tell, he didn't pop the hood but as you can tell the exhaust is factory.

I'm still running the 10 bolt and baby nuts 255 street tires, hence me babying it off the line to the tune of a 2.2 60 ft. 3rd gear is also shot too, it grinds but I didn't care since this was the last run so I just smashed it into third and finally got a 12 second pass with my 11 second mph. Ha.

  • The heads and intake manifolds on the LS1 are already very free flowing, the bottleneck is the cam so a cam makes a big difference. I just put GT40P heads and GT40 upper and lower intake on my '92 Mustang that already had shorties and full exhaust. It picked up power with the H/I swap for sure, but it noses over right after 5k because of the stock cam. Now I am in a LS1 situation where a cam will totally wake up the engine.

  • @gtdrummerdude Lol this isn't the same as an old 5.0, can't even compare. Stock LS1s don't run out of juice before stock redline like 5.0s do, they make power straight to redline with no issues. The heads and intake I have on my car are the worst flowing stock LS1 parts out there, the cam on the other hand, made power to 7000 rpm, only dropping 3 whp from 6500-7000 rpm. Rev limiter is set to 6500 because I'm scared of breaking the stock bottom end lol.

  • @KFCOrBust Sounds like a big cam. Stock LS1 heads and intake flow a lot. They may be crappy to you, but they are miles ahead of an old 350 head.

  • @gtdrummerdude It is a big cam, over .600 lift and they flow light years better than old SBC shit but as far as LS stuff goes, it's scraping the bottom of the barrel.

  • @KFCOrBust Well at some point you gotta be happy with the way it is. There's always someone faster and your own car can always be faster with more money. 115 mph is more than fast enough for a daily. My old '82 notch went 118 mph with a 9:1 302 and it was my daily. I remember it being a little much around town.

  • @gtdrummerdude Oh no dude, it's definitely fun as fuck! Just saying, with a few dollars in heads and a new intake I could be having even more fun! lol It's not too much around town, the 4:10s actually give me more leeway on gear selection since it's harder to keep it bogged down, my first change come spring time is getting rid of the SLP catback and going stock + cutout, I attract WAY too much attention and I can't even warm up my car before I go to work since I leave at 5am.
