... this is useless trivia. I bet if they dug up some ancient Babylonian stone that said they appeased the devils by paying workers of their evil temples on Fridays, Christian zealots will tell us to get paid on Saturdays instead. As a Christian, objects and a day are just that. No powers. Why do so many curl in fear from inanimate objects and think Christ will hurl lightning at them for a mistletoe or tree in a room?
@revelation1234 Thank you Revelation 1234. Indeed, Saint Nicholas was a real person, with the highest Christian virtues indeed....and by no means a moslem Turk. This is the point. On the other hand, Turks have either turned Medieval Christian Churches into animal barns, Disco Clubs or destroyed them. What a shame -It is all over the Internet too.
OOOPS! Nice documentary but with a mistake by... the History Channel :-\ Santa Claus (Nikolaus) was Greek in origin, as the name denotes, and NOT Turkish (who are Moslems and arrived in Anatolia from Asia several centuries after the Roman Byzantine Emperor Constantine the Great established thre first Christian Empire) - minute 2:22 - Merry Christmas!
@GoodPotHd Yes, and the truth that Christmas does not come from a warm and fuzzy past. It's rife with pagan rites, rituals and symbolism, in many forms of past celebrations it was all topped off with human sacrifices. I am no Grinch, but I really don't care to feel the urgent need to contend with insane commercialism, guilt trips from family members, wrestling with a damn tree, only to spend weeks fighting the dead spruce needles, and getting tangled up with endless lights
