Many have asked me how to paint the flesh coat / layers on their reborn baby dolls using the real effects air dry paints, so I thought I would do a vlog tutorial on how I do my layers.
I hope you find it helpful and don't forget to rate the video :o)

  • Hi Nikki, I was wondering if the Real Effects Air dry paints are the same as the LDC paints sold on Doll Dreams Inc?

  • @DawnChs - As I haven't use the LDC, I can't answer that sorry.

They are specially designed paints for vinyl doll kits and are air dry, so they sound similar.

  • Hi Nikki. Thankyou for this tutorial. I do have a question though. How many flesh layers do you normaly do on ALL your dolls. 2? 3? 4? Or maybe just 1? I would like to know what you think. Thankyou!

    :)

  • @Missblondy11 - It depends on what the vinyl colour is like and what effect I want to achieve.

  • Hi there Nikki,

Could you clarify how long you need to leave between the flesh coats plse? You mentioned 2 days. Would this also apply to the green washes? thank you.

  • @Fellkat - If they are thin enough you can apply 2 or three after each other but give it a full 2-3 days to dry before doing any more otherwise the paints won't set properly.

  • @DawnChs hi Nikki was wonderin which u feel is better to use acrylic or genesis? obviously acrylic would end up cheaper unless its not the ordinary ones we can get from craft shops? There has been write up that it also can crack ad fade too, do u agree? many thanks.Stacey

  • canyou demonstrate how you do this GHSP because that is what i will be using

  • @stillmomentsnursery Where do you buy real effect paint?!

  • @eyeswideopen1993 I haven't either seen a doll painted with the air dry paints that look near as realistic as the ones I've done in GHSP. I've tried both types of paints and also go back to Genesis.. but I like a challenge, and would like more information on the Real Effects brand. I've used the LDC air dry, and the flesh has a yellow tone to it that i'm not happy with.
