Windows 7 has expanded the power of the Search feature in the Start Menu to help make your life easier, even when you arent sure what you are looking for! No more hunting around for files or applications. Windows 7 allows you to index not only documents, videos, music and more but it also lets you integrate your e-mail and even web searches. In this Windows 7 in 77 Seconds video I walk you through some of the cool new features of the Windows 7 Start Menu search feature

  • Care to explain how to use it briefly? I tried deselected a couple of files but even though they seem to show up when I search. Also files from my external HDD shows up even though it's not ticked.

  • hwo come i dont have search bar?

  • Robert- What you showed is all well & good, BUT I much prefer the configurable Search in Windows XP. Many times Win7's Search doesn't include files & folders that I can see in Windows Explorer. And often when I choose "see more results" in Win7's Search, the "more results" drops files that were in the initial Search list. Win7 Search is useless to find files created/modified in the last day (or any date range), files in some size range, and worst doesn't support wild (*) characters. Gimme XP!

no Windows 7 is very smart would not use your hard drive the whole time. it will only use the hard drive when the computer is idle and unused. if you go to the search settings, it will say "Indexing speed reduced due to user activity"

  • Indexing... Perhaps that explains why the goddam thing is so slow and is always accessing my disk.
