@tpmtv good job not showing Newt's response dumb bitches. Waxman got his ass handed to him, but you cock suckers wouldn't want to be honest and show that would you?
-
Gingrich is nothing more than an American embarrassment. He's got no morals what-so-ever and will say and do anything for his Corp kickbacks. He's a phony POS and like all Republicans, he kneels at the alter of Corp America.
-
Waxman is an idiot. When you watch the full back and forth you see Waxman just dismisses all of the facts Gingrich brings up about how the climate catastrophe is bullshit without counter-arguing any of them.
-
The interesting thing that nobody seems to bring up, is that the electricity generators that produce all or a substantial portion of their electricity with renewables, WILL NOT PAY A DIME TO CAP AND TRADE. So you, the CUSTOMER, WILL NOT PAY A DIME EITHER. In fact, they should be able to sell credits and be well profitable and therefore more competitive.

There are two links along the right that contains the full exchange between Gingrich and Waxman. There you will see Gingrich hit back pretty hard.

@whoo689 $300 Billion in a 14 TRILLION economy. That's not even 10%! C&T will cost far less. So why the bitching? God forbid polluters actually start PAYING for their pollution instead of being let off the hook and screw up our air all they want.
-
@whoo689 We need to INFORM the people about the actual costs and benefits of this program, instead of letting the Right monopolize this debate. it's fucking ridiculous. Don't let teabaggers tell you it's some giant energy tax or other uninformed BS about its effects. Tell them the TRUTH about it. Educate the American people on this. This is not gonna cause Armageddon for christ sake. Even the Kyoto Protocol, which could have some big costs, would only cost, in the end, $300 Billion.
-
@whoo689 the cap and trade side needs to start FIGHTING for this program! We need to bring out the big guns and stop cowering in fear. This is nothing to be afraid of. It's a good program, and those who believe in it must defend it. Defend it from the lies. Defend it from those who'd rather just let business run roughshod over the environment and DO NOTHING about pollution. I mean, what IS the solution from guys like Inhofe, who DENY global warming is even partly man-made?
-
The GOP is really pulling out all the stops to smear what is considered by most everyone with a BRAIN, esp. those who've actually done unbiased studies on the topic, to be a very good program with much-lower costs than simple command-and-control regulation. Why can't they just ADMIT that cap and trade works? Or at least admit that it IS a market-based program.
It's NOT some "giant energy tax" or "socialist" in any way. The very notions are just silly and misinformed.
Perhaps the love-struck should actually read the 1400+ page bill. Jump to P. 467...next time you try to get an appliance fixed and the repair guy tells you he can't, you have to buy a new energy-efficient model (for which he will receive a bounty payment). Wake up. This will not save the Planet! More government waste and control of our lives.

Cap and trade will cost Americans 25% more for energy. Common Sense people.
The Company A that pollutes less will sell the right to pollute more to Company B. Company A will not pass the savings onto the consumer. Company B will probably end up polluting more, and pass that cost directly onto the consumer.
Obama has admitted himself, that the cost of energy has to go up for this to work.
This is just another money grab by big business.
We should have caps not trades.
