[HowTo] Install Zekr(Qur'an Study tool) on Ubuntu Linux/WIndows & Mac OS

Zekr is an open platform Quran study tool for simply browsing and researching on the Holy Quran. It is a Quran-based project, planned to be a universal, open source, and cross-platform application to perform most of the usual refers to Quran.

Zekr Qur'an was made with coding made for Windows, Linux, Mac giving it the feel of any other native application. It is fully featured with advanced searching, navigation, recitation, and commentary. The backbone of Zekr is very generic, allowing customization in many ways. Customize the language, translation, recitation, commentary, and theme. Make Zekr perfect for you.

Windows Installation:

Install Java addon first

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

and then download and install zekr

http://zekr.org/quran/

Ubuntu Installation:

http://zekr.org/quran/quran-for-linux

Download the deb file and install

and type

sudo apt-get install ttf-farsiweb ttf-me-quran ttf-sil-scheherazade
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre

on the teriminal window

or just visit

Translations:

Recitations:

how to Install ttf-me-quran to enable Uthman-Taha theme? pls help

@mentex70 look for ttf-me-quran deb on google.. I had to manually install it in maverick

Is there anyone who got the error message must install nonfree flash even if I have flash installed. Then when I install all available flash the program just shuts down when I start it in ubuntu 32 bit

i haven't installed it via synaptic i.e. nspluginwrapper but instead i just copied the 64bit flash alpha and copied ~/.mozilla/plugins directory and everything works on ubuntu64

Salam Aleykum akhi. I've got a question. I've downloadet this very good app but i really want to hear the quran and the translation both in audio. How can I get the translation in audio? If that's possible. Jazak Allah khair akhi for you vid.
