obviously you have no idea what your talking about. If you actually saw the film that man is actually DOING ALL THOSE THINGS YOU ARE SAYING...but his kid HAS to go to a failing public school (you can only attend the school that belong to your zone) and his only choice out is if he wins the "lotto". None of those things you mentioned can replace actual real classroom education.

You are ignorant man. Did you even watch the movie? The guy that says that ACTUALLY is teaching is kid at home. His kid is number one or number two in his class at the zone school. The kid is learning. It's about gaining the chance to an amazing education. PROFESSIONAL teachers who can make his son graduate college. Don't be too quick to judge.

Publicly funded education is not 'free': SOMEONE pays for it.

And if it's made mandatory, people who don't want to be there are forced to be there ... and they behave like they don't want to be there.

Add to that the fact that teaching standards are abysmal (teachers come from the BOTTOM of the graduate spectrum) and you have a recipe for expensive disaster.

People who PAY expect VALUE: people who get shit "free" have no incentive to perform.

Compulsory K10 (or K12) is a REALLY bad model.

I finally saw the movie today and what I saw was disturbing, parents acting a fool stopping progress. The definition of insanity doing the same thing expecting different results, but sometimes you have to try something new, to have something you never had before.

Charters are hardly the answer....all major studies indicate that Charter Schools perform on average the same or worse than Public Schools.....the real culprit.....here's a shocker...Poverty, unemployment that these families are burdened with....
