and second advice , when you move one leg or one hand or arm, always focus more on the one you dont use. a true dancer in traditional japanese dances is immediatly recognizable by the attention it pays to what doest move. even being motionless must appear as dancing .
for the rest, it is up to you.

my grand mother was geisha in asakusa tokyo. she always told me dance is not something we learn it is something we become , in japanese we say narau yori nareru . keep on dancing young ladies . and dont try to learn just try to become by imitating . that is the secret of perfection mane wo suru , sono ato wakaru, not the contrary !
two advices if you allow me, first always keep your knees bent , never straight legs .

what is the name of this song?

XD no problem, ive been dancing for about 10 years. Every week my teacher lectures us to move our head, bend legs, and act as if we are sliding not walking. The dance I'm doing now involves wearing about 5 layers of clothing, including a dragging kimono, giant freakin hats, also using a fan, flowers and 2 three section haning umbrella things. And using all that I have to somehow act graceful...

lol, interesting observations, thank you! i guess i should have never commented in the first place, knowing nothing of the details of Japanese dance.

Haha, that is definatly not a dificult dance. I'm a Japanese Dancer and that was not very well done. No movement in the head and I see no grace in their movements. Plus there fan is not used for instance twirling, flipping or anything. Plus they are smiling, one rule is not to smile.

You don't wear shoes. Just Tubi, white socks with the big toe split off.

What type of shoes are worn with this dance?

where did you get the mai-sen?
It's a shame to read all the "I can say you suck because I'm Asian" comments. Sad to say, I currently live in Japan, and most Japanese have thrown away their culture, and could care less about nichibu anymore. You should be grateful foreigners are taking interest in your dance. Otherwise it would die. No doubt any of you loud mouthed Asians have never even picked up a fan. I say these girls are remarkable for trying. Too bad the Japanese youth don't care anymore...

who are you people? first of all, we're wearing yukata, not kimono. secondly, this was a dance we learned in a matter of three days, so of course it wasn't perfect; the idea of performing the dance was to embrace aspects of japanese culture. lastly, it is very dangerous to use a phrase like "eastern dances" as each east asian culture has numerous dances, and curves are not always the objective.
