Adapted in 1920, Schoenberg's arrangement of Mahler's "Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen," from which "Die zwei blauen Augen von meinem Schatz" is the final song, received its Carnegie Hall premiere on March 25, 1987, with Dame Janet Baker, mezzo-soprano, and the Orchestra of St. Luke's conducted by James Conlon.
Measha Brueggergosman performs the song cycle—with the same ensemble that performed it during last June's Risør Chamber Music Festival—at Carnegie Hall on December 3.
