Now I'm a really strong Christian, and I think this game is no problem what soever. If your son is almost 18, then I'm sure he can think clearly enough to NOT do this stuff in real life.

There is a difference between "bad" and "morally ambiguous". Niko questions his own motives, reflects on the nature of people like him, and also has positive traits as well (his loyalty to his family and how the player has the option to spare certain enemies or not). It's called having 3-dimensional character traits. If Niko was just a mommy's boy who did what he was told by authority every single time, then there would be no conflict with in the game's narrative.
