@antisadism Although it ends up being much wider than simply to create the ultimate soldier. The ultimate aim of the S3 plan was actually to see if they could manipulate a member of the population by their own will. In this sense, despite Arsenal Gear, GW and half of New York being destroyed, the test was a success. it seems this formed the basis of the SOP system in MGS4.

@HilariousOperation No I mean the part where they say that soldiers are now being used in Virtual reality to train to become an ultimate soldier, the big shell was a huge simulation to make Raiden into a experienced soldier like Snake, using the whole simulation like a video game. It breaks the fourth wall because we play MGS2 almost like a simulation and its as if we are the ones being made into soldiers. "War as a video game, what better way to raise the ultimate soldier"
