This live "mono mix" version of "Soul Sacrifice" by Santana at Woodstock 1969 Concert was taken from the Cotillion stereo recording on a Maxell chrome cassette tape that is in very good condition. I was not happy with the overall stereo mix balances(especially through headphones!!), so I made a mono mix from the cassette track and it turned out better than I originally expected(not perfect either as the original live recordings were made under very adverse conditions), but more balanced in center staging perspective on the mono mix here.

Recorded with stereo gear on background photo.

Sounds absolutely awesome! I always loved mono, except when I was in High school and every thing had to be in stereo. 1983, when I heard a Beatles master that was in mono and I then felt everything should sound this good. I would have preferred to see Santana at the Texas Pop Festival 2 weeks later. You had chairs and didn't have to waddle through the mud or get worried about being struck by lightning. Watch out for the Brown Acid.

I was originally trying to remix the stereo but I was not able to get what I was looking for in a balanced stereo mix since Woodstock was recorded under harsh conditions and live outdoor rock concert recording was still very new in 69. So I decided to try a mono mix at last effort and I liked the way it made the sound more center stage balanced, & there was a mono promo LP of the concert pressed in limited copies for use at AM radio stations. Thanks for comments & listening...Friends, Lloyd.

I always find that no matter which song, the Woodstock version is always better! Some kind of strange magic was going on there.

He was only 17 in 1969. Carlos gave him the break he needed to rise to the big time.

Carlos is one of a kind, as are all big name guitar players. Did you guys know the drummer that Carlos chose to work with at Woodstock was just a kid, at age 17. Amazing performances from all band members present.

Being on the edge is where life is at it's best. Even though your body wasn't at Woodstock, your Mind surely was. Being so close to the Venue your Dad maybe made a mistake in not taking you with him.

I was 15 miles away in the summer of Woodstock '69. I begged my father to take me, but since I was only 12 years old, he said no. I remember the roads being packed with hippies in the bungalow colony I was staying at. Not fully involved in history, but I was on the edge!
