In a nutshell, the video demonstrates two different hose deployment methods (immediate and extended) and two different functions of the hose roller itself (standard donut roll and coil configuration modes).
I begin the video with a short demonstration of today's "current" standard method of unfolding and arranging and necessary rearranging of fire hose from it's stored (FOLDED) configuration on a piece of fire apparatus which requires not only several fire fighters to arrange but an open lot/yard to accommodate this operation as well...
The next scene shows the near impossible task when there is no front yard or empty lot to speak of that has adequate room to deploy said hose...
I then demonstrate a worse case scenario by leaving the fire engine parked in confinement within the garage and as I purposely wrap two stationary objects (parked vehicle and the center post for the fire apparatus room bay doors) that would stop the advancement of nearly any other method... It clearly demonstrates how the work of one firefighter can complete the work of several in one-third the time and about one-quarter of the effort.
The next series of scenes demonstrate how the 'Hoffy' load can also be SAFELY deployed within a mere ten feet from the apparatus... unheard of in the Fire Service... with absolutely no kinks to unravel and the ability to extend up to the length of the pre-connected hose in mere seconds... 22 seconds to water to be exact... not painstaking minutes!
This is why the fire fighters being 'Burned Over' had neither the time nor the space at the roadside to fight the originally small, containable fire that quickly became 50-foot flame lengths that consumed their engine.
The 'Hoffy' hose deployment method provides maximum Fire fighter SAFETY when every second counts!
The following series of scenes show the hose roller in action. First to roll a simple 'donut' roll of 100' feet of 1.5" fire hose... and then a WORLD's FIRST... to demonstrate both design durability and strength I roll 100' of 5.0" Angus Large Diameter Hose! Truly an industry first!
Next I demonstrate the hose roller executing the coil method. Extension arms are attached to the roller head assembly to prepare hose into the coil configuration
(Minimum Inside Critical Diameter is attained and maintained) before it is placed on a fire engine either as a 'Hoffy' pre-connect or as an additional fire hose extension 'bundle.'
The Minimum Inside Critical Diameter is the minimum diameter a hose must be coiled to in order to auto-eliminate any kinks for water to flow unrestricted to the nozzle. Corona Fire Department, Corona, California has adopted this technique and demonstrates The Bundles method for training purposes in a short video that has been published on-line on YouTube.
This small and compact hose roller is also an industry first as it will fit into a standard baseball bat bag to facilitate all these processes both in the field and at the fire station at the discretion of the crew.
Finally, I demonstrate a deployment method of advancing heavy, cumbersome, rigid, fully charged fire hose AFTER it has been filled with water. A method of rolling each coil of charged hose to the heels of the nozzle person as it can easily pass over and around nearly any obstacle a fire fighter may come in contact with...
The need to use brute force to advance hose lines as these has finally come to an end!

This way is much to risky! I do it European style! We use a core to wind en rewind aur hose on! This is much faster and you get exactly the lenght that u need with only 1/2 people!

Having the hose coiled is great for when you charge it. Love the idea. The only thing i dont care for is rolling the hose like a tire. It may be nice when conditions are right, but its so much slower than simply dragging it. If you drag it, you can move so much more line at one time, and you dont have to be standing but when the situation is right i can see that method being used. And yes i know your not implying that you have to roll the hose like a tire everytime to advance with this hose load
