Turn down the dry signal, with the sub-octave turned up, and you will have just the "bass."

@ampardey absolutely, in fact Jack White uses a POG to get his bassy sound, the POG being the larger model which allows a lot more fine tuning of the sounds that the pedal can produce.

Adding an octave up sounds like you're tracking it over.
