Fine Art is a tough boxing ring (bailywick) kind of situation. Anyone who has specialized in illustration and painting of space themes has always been considered an outsider. Just because the Smithsonian can have a display DOES NOT mean any regular art museums would ever accept a genre of space art.

Indeed, it will take time for artists in this genre to be accepted if they work exclusively on space themes. Unfortunately only when artists establish themselves in a traditional genre or creative career -- such as concept artists or landscape painters -- are they accepted in the broader art community.
Hopefully we can be a part of bringing about that change.
