Unfortunately, Minipop played far too short a set -- only seven songs -- but their dream pop sound seemed to go over well with the crowd and I was very happy to have seen them. In fact, as they appear to be a regional touring act at best, this may have been my only chance to see them, or at least my only chance in the foreseeable future. I've got some smallish local acts in mind for my upcoming trips to Boston (Taxpayer) and Washington (Karmella's Game), and I'm hoping I can find a good local act or two for my Vancouver trip as well.

minipop is sick. reminds me of some old school 4ad stuff with a mazzy star vocal on top. big fan. just found these guys...thanks to a friend. and the lead singer is crazy hot. ;-)
I think if the Pixies gave a shit about being copied, then Nirvana may not have been around to influence almost every other "alternative" band that came along back then, but I'm not so sure The Pixies can be exclusively credited with pioneering that style (although Courtney and Kurt acknowldge Teen Spirit was a blatent Pixies rip). One other thing, I really don't hear much of a simularity between "Where Is My Mind?" and "Like I Do", but I'll give 'em both another listen for the Hell of it.

not that big of a sin it's a common progression.
