The problem lies in the fact that we here in the U.S. have 100's of nuclear reactors which are cooled by electric powered generators. If a solar storm of a magnitude of the Carrington event (circa 1859) were to occur.. it would cripple these cooling systems and we would have 100's of Fukushimas all at the same time.. making the air we breath.. water we drink (water table / rain) and the food we eat unconsumable / breathable. Everywhere I go talks about protection of electrical devices, yet they don't talk about how to protect YOURSELF. Like, what will happens to exposure from the rays hitting our skin? How can WE be safe?
