Eucharistic meditation by alumni members of the Cleveland Saint Ignatius High School Liturgical Musicians and Chorus.

May 31, 2009, Pentecost Sunday, on the occasion of the final vows of Rev. Raymond Guiao, S.J. into the Society of Jesus at Saint Mary of the Assumption Chapel in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Angelus is a Catholic devotion in memory of the Incarnation. Traditionally recited across Christendom at 6:00am, noon, and 6:00pm. The prayer is usually accompanied by the ringing of the Angelus bell, which is supposed to bring good will to all of the earth (wikipedia).

V. Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariæ.
R. Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto. Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.

V. Ecce Ancilla Domini.
R. Fiat mihi secundum Verbum tuum. Ave Maria...

V. Et Verbum caro factum est.
R. Et habitavit in nobis. Ave Maria...

V. Ora pro nobis, Sancta Dei Genetrix.
R. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

Amen.

  • I miss this so much. I was in this and I cannot begin to describe what everyone in our chorus felt while singing this song. Let me bgin by telling you about our beloved teacher, Fr. Guiao. He was so passionate and genuine about our songs that you couldn't help but strive for greatness. His condition left some vocal chords of his paralyzed. All of us could see how every word we sang made him happy. He was truly a phenomenal teacher and mentor. Thank you Fr. guiao for the joy you brought us.

  • Well Done.

  • all that is missing is a mosh pit
