@herodotus53 Since the BBC is partially funded by taxes they have to cater to everyone. It's the same in Denmark where the DR on one channel sends a documentary about the history of christianity and on another, the Danish version of X-factor.

This was on the BBC? And people actually watched it? I'm truly impressed. As an American, I'm very disappointed that so much of our TV programming caters to a very, very low common denominator, with the result that so much of what is available seems to resort to (semi) naked women and explosions to hold the audience's attention. How refreshing it must be to live in a country where thinking adults make shows for other thinking adults!
