From "Tell My Sister", an essential three cd set which includes the McGarrigle Sisters' first two cds plus a third cd of previously unreleased material, This version of Kate's "Talk To Me Of Mendocino" is from the disc of unreleased songs. We miss you, Kate.

I can't think of a sentence that would have the words pain, and joy, and sorrow, and longing and belonging, and Montreal all in the one sentence. But that's what it would have to be.

I agree with nostalgiahistoria67 -- For those who haven't discovered The Roches yet, they did a lot of great music following the McGarrigles. Seductive Reasoning was their first album, and produced by none other than Paul Simon.
Fans will also like several versions of Linda Ronstandt's Talk To Me Of Mendocino.
You can find her singing this song WITH Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle! And also she recorded a version on her own that I think is awesome.

If you like this performance and it gives you goosebumps, or if you are familiar with the music of Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and are looking for something similar from the same era (1970s) seek out Maggie & Terre Roche's album Seductive Reasoning. It is as awesome as the McGarrigle's songs. You won't be dissappointed.

You couldn't call it "soul."
You had to call it "heart."
A masterpiece.
