Bennie Benjamin and George David Weiss were quite a successful music writing tandem during the 1940's and '50's turning out such songs as "Wheel Of Fortune", "I'll Never Be Free", "How Important Can It Be" and this tune, "Cross Over The Bridge" which went to #2 on the charts during the spring of 1954 for Patti Page.

If you go through enough of these videos, you'll find that there are almost as many teens into this as there are people around when it originally came out.
I am 16 myself, but I have not been lucky enough to meet someone my age who likes this in real life.

Was 8 yrs. old when this came out! Loved it. Listened to it whenever Dad would let me play the radio.

Stars of that era couldn't rely on high tech wizardry to embellish their voices. They either had it, or they didn't. The talent was amazing!

I was in the 7th grade, in the Spring of 1955, and in the boy's glee club. Our teacher had a VERY eclectic taste in music. We sang THIS song and "Tonight You Belong to Me" by Patience and Prudence.
