@mitefiend dickey let them put his 56 goldtop Les Paul in the rock n' roll hall of fame where it sat for several years and turned an ugly green for some reason. While it was in there, Dickey played a Paul Reed Smith, A Gibson ES-335 and his last years with the ABB he played his old 56 Fender Strat hardtail mostly. When he got Goldie back, he of course saw the ugly green and stripped it down and painted it red. But shortly after that, Gibson's custom shop has provided him with new LPs, one's gold

I read someplace that he painted the Goldtop Les Paul, Red. Kinda strange thing to do, to a guitar he even had a pet name "Goldie" for. Would been better to keep it and buy an old Les Paul and paint it red, I would think.
Maybe Dicky had a few too many that day, and he was seeing Red. heh.

did u ever see the Dicky Betts signature Les Paul "gold top"it is ssooooooo sweet.... but they only made like 100 of them and that was a few years ago.... but I'd love to get my hands on one....
