My Dad and I put the Queen Excluder on our most active hive...enjoy. It was foolish of me to not wear much, but the bees were really mellow. But seriously...WEAR full protection.

  • Your dad is quite possibly the most adorable creature on the planet. I find bees to be completely terrifying, so props to you!

  • Haha...thanks! Ill pass it on to him! He's the best!

  • Tip: Bees can't see white.

  • They stung my white gloves like crazy the other day. I want to believe you...I really do.

My hand swelled up pretty bad for about a day...so it goes!

  • Your Dad is cool! Very cool :)

  • Feel free to record all your video's without a shirt ;)

Seriously though, you rock. You are so inspiring. Isn't it neat to think of how many people you are influencing and you will never even know. Good luck! We're watching!

  • I'm into nude beekeeping. I'm starting a Thong Optional Beekeeping Club, if anyone is interested.

  • I am looking for a nice gentleman such as your dad as well - amiable-in-nature, even-in-temperament. And recognizing of the importance of such life endeavors! Personally, not afraid of bees per se. Rather, greatly respectful of them in many a sense...and acknowledging that not only are the stings painful - they elicit kind of a nauseating 'feeling' as well. Appreciate your desire to help others be more comfortable with the idea of working with bees - and the input via others' comments.

  • Please do yourself, AND THE BEES, a big favor and take a beekeeping CLASS!! You will love the feeling of beekeeping with the conficence that you know what you are doing. You could have lost the queen by simply putting the inner cover aside (if she was on it when you took it off), and stack your hive pieces on your inverted outer cover when you take it off. You loose fewer 'house bees' that can't fly yet. Trust me, your experience working with knowledge will be blissful!

  • working without a veil = foolish.

Their should not be an open hole in a top honey super. Its possible that the queen could exit the hive and re-enter through that hole, filling your honey super with brood. Also, it will just encourage robbing from other hives.

  • Bees are actually pretty docile if you know how handle them.

But there are certain things they dislike. Woolly clothing, strong odours like sweat, perfume, soap, etc, shiny objects like your eyes, glasses, wet lips, etc. They also don't like alcohol, if you've been drinking two days prior to handling them, they will know. Dark colours as your dad said and sudden movements. Once they attack, hide in the bushes, you can't outrun them, they go over 25 mph. Stand still and they won't see you.

  • Anthony, thank you!... THANK YOU SO MUCH! for not wearing much when handling bees on this video-- to risk your personal safety for our viewers' enjoyment and appreciation! In fact, I was watching this Youtube video on a desktop without a speaker, but just by the visual I'm in awe... Your body is BEAUTIFUL! You exude BEAUTIFUL ambience and heard, you talk BEAUTIFULLY!

  • RM, You have great abs, but i don't think the bees were noticing them. You'd be better off wearing a veil than gloves, the bees are programmed to attack the eyes. Smoke is always handy while not wearing protection. I guess you already know all this. It's refreshing to see a young bloke with so much enthusiasm. I look forward to any comment you might make on my videos. cheers.

  • I'm always amazed to see the bees not attacking.
