Backlash

April 29, 2007

ATLANTA The Hardys defeated Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch to open Backlash in a true contest of tag team specialists for the World Tag Team Championship. The high-flyers retained their titles, but they had their hands full in the process.

Cade & Murdoch gave Jeff & Matt all they could handle, withstanding an incredible high-risk offense from the World Tag Team Champions and controlling much of the match by hitting them with powerful blows to keep them grounded.

It took bending the rules on The Hardys part in order for them to retain the gold. When the referee was distracted by Matt and Cade outside of the ring, Jeff hit Murdoch with the Swanton Bomb despite not being tagged in. Matt climbed back into the squared circle for the cover, allowing The Hardys to escape with the victory.

"They're both tough and we knew we had our hands full tonight," Matt said. "We're happy with the results. The reign of Matt and Jeff continues to live on."

  • World Wrestling Entertainment was informed Friday morning by Lance McNaught’s father that he has passed away of apparent heart failure. WWE extends its deepest condolences to the McNaught family. Mr. McNaught was under contract beginning March 2003, performing under the name "Lance Cade," and was released October 2008. He returned to FCW, WWE’s developmental territory, in September 2009, and was released in April 2010.

  • dude the sound quality sucks!

  • R.I.P Lance Cade

  • @Gorrrillla5 Regardless of who he was wrestling as, this was still a tragic event. Lance looked like he was poised to make a comeback and I was going to vote for him for Comeback of the Year in the PWI Achievement Awards for 2010. But it was never to be. Sort of like David Von Erich and Magnum, T.A. They were both penciled in to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title, but David died and Magnum was injured in the wreck. Sad stories.

  • Sad to hear of Lance Cade's passing. He was with us for only a short time, but he made an impact. He will be missed. He looked to be poised for a comeback, as he had been wrestling in the NWA.

  • RIP LANCE CADE

  • i love it when Jeff flies <3

  • rest in peace lance cade!!!

  • Rip Lance!!!!
