@bluesborn - I think that boogie-woogie came from some of the earliest parts, of jazz piano, maybe including ragtime. James P. Johnson, Thomas "Fats" Waller, Duke Ellington, Willie "The Lion" Smith and others refined some parts of early, jazz piano ... as Earl Hines developed a "trumpet style" of playing, in his solos. Fletcher Henderson,

Wm. "Count" Basie and others used their own, piano ways ... while fronting some of the best jazz Orchestras of the past. ... Opinions, only.
