@ushigirl Dear this cannot be ascribed to Islam. Islam has laid a foundation for the slave's liberation. Although when slavery was not completely eliminated Islam protected them. E.g Muhammad said: Your slaves are your brothers... So whoever has a brother under his command should feed him of what he eats and dress him of what he wears. Do not ask them (slaves) to do things beyond their capacity (power) and if you do so, then help them (Bukhari). I would recommend you to read exodus 21. Tak care
