I've tried learning this piece a tone down from the original key (so it will sound in the original key in solo tuning) and yet I still can't play the very high notes like you can. I run out of fingerboard around the 0:35 mark. Would you say that I'm doing something wrong, or does your bass just have an extra long fingerboard?

yes indeed, I do have an extended fingerboard; I suppose you can play those high notes with a regular fingerboard but the sound quality will suffer a bit. Good luck wit it, it's a great piece!

i dont care about some students saying 'german school', 'french school'.. for me, Rotaru is the top 5 of the great Bassist of our time!!

thanks John for your super nice comment! Ranking is not important for me; showing the awesomeness of the bass as a true solo instrument, is. Thanks for listening and best wishes!

This piece sounds really great on bass. A great reminder not to feel constrained by original instrumentations.

Thank you very much! This really disappoints me, because I fell in love with this piece the first time I heard you play it.

Great job! This piece seems quite difficult in double bass though... thanks for sharing =) To be honest, this piece is 100% perfect in violin and you played 99% in double bass(The 1% is the part in around 5 minute, you played slower than the original, maybe you were only making it stylish) Really gd:)
