North Korea Nuclear Deal

"All you want is this incomplete verification document right?"

*For years, the United States and the international community have tried to negotiate an end to North Korea's nuclear program. A declaration which was part of a landmark six-nation deal, was reached last year saying that North Korea agreed to end its nuclear weapons program in return for energy aid, diplomatic recognition and security guarantees. Six month after the declaration, North Korea finally submitted a long-awaited document that listed its nuclear holdings, which was viewed as somewhat imcomplete, and agreed to destroy the cooling tower at Yongbyon nuclear reactor. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill announced that verification will be the most important aspect and nothing will proceed without denuclearization. Verification measures would be adopted at a meeting of the six parties, the U.S., China, the two Koreas, Japan and Russia, in Beijing soon. President Bush have already announced that he is ready to lift some trade sanctions against North Korea and is rescinding the country's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism. Japan has taken the hardest line in six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear disarmament due to the dispute over the abduction of citizens by Pyongyang's agents.
