@jstotesbury ,i dont know..i like to eat a few big ones every now and then..lol,where i fish,i cant catch one smaller than the palm of my hand

you all are right , there are millions of bluegill. but only a few make to the size we were releasing.keep all the small ones you can catch. use them for fertilizer or cat food but plese release the big ones!!

yeah i catch like 50 or 60 big bluegill and about half that amount are crappie

That probably means the bluegill/crappie population and reproduction cycle is healthy where you live. No limit on bluegills, but 25 for crappie because they are not as healthy a population.

where i live there is no limit or size limit same for crappie!

Bluegills are like rabbits of the lake. That's why limits of bluegill are so high.

i still catch loads of trout in the lakes and streams i fish
but down in the city the resivoirs and ponds i go to i cant keep my bait on for 5 minutes before catching a stunted bluegill

good stuff, but if your a catch and freleace deciple try being more carefull with the poor buggers!
