this was recorded just days [maybe less than 24 hours] after being written [and months before "Once Triangular"]. i recall a rehearsal of this song in Gil and Donny's parents' basement an hour or so before our "road trip" to Toledo. i may have even been the first to hear it. Donny didn't even sing the "all we need is love" part.

while sifting through potential Party Dream wardrobe malfunctions for the evening (a laundry bag filled with a plethora of fashion faux pas from the previous decade or so), i listened closely. perhaps a little too closely. once the song was finished, i gave my honest opinion.

i was around 17 at the time, and didn't really have much patience for anything. so my opinion was that i loved it, and maybe it was a little too long. needless to say, they were both pissed. had they played it for me today, i would have just said "i love it." and nothing else. but i don't regret what i said.
