Rezgar is a pioneer of Kurdish rap/hiphop who paved the way for this new genre in Kurdish music. He began making his music and writing lyrics in the Sorani dialect of Kurdish in the 1990s, and today, many other Kurdish rappers have emerged including the famous, Serhado. The song "that Nation" is a tribute to the Kurdish people and their ongoing struggles in Iran, Syria, and Turkey. Rezgar is originally from the Kurdish city of Kermanshah (Kirmanshan) in Eastern Kurdistan, the portion of the Kurdistan geographical region that currently lies within Iran's borders. He presently lives in Europe.
